It’s hard to separate oneself from the toys, cartoons, and commercials that raised us. I grew up as the machine of youth advertising was just hitting its stride and there was little or no objection from parents who welcomed characters who convinced their children to have a balanced diet, rich in symbolism, sorcery, and the importance of needing what you don’t have.

My rabbit who has been denied the sugary bliss of the children’s cereal has grown extra tongues to help him reach the fruit of Tantalus.
